Pork chops stewed with apples.

Pork, apple and cinnamon are a classic combination. I do not need references to prove this universal fact. So I tried this combination in my kitchen, with a bit of my own innovation to add to it, the result is a tasty but simple to cook, requires very few ingredients and ideal for novice cooks who wish to create a classic delicacy with limited effort. You can follow the step by step procedures by scrolling through the images below.

Ingredients

Pork chops: 2 (250 gms)
Apple: 1
Olive oil : 2 teaspoon
Garlic: 3 cloves
Cinnamon stick : 1
Cinnamon powder : ½ teaspoon
Dried thyme : ½ teaspoon
Freshly ground black pepper : 1/3 teaspoon
Fresh thyme: 1 bunch
Brown Sugar: 1/8 cup
Apple juice : 2 ½ cup
Water: ½ cup
Salt to taste.

Procedure

Pat both the sides of the pork chops with kitchen towels to remove the moisture. Add oil to a deep bottomed pan and place the chops.
Cook it on high heat, so that the meat changes to slightly golden in color. Change the sides and repeat.
Add the chopped garlic and dried thyme to the sides of the pan. Reduce the heat to medium.
As the garlic changes its color to light golden, place the chopped apple on both sides of the meat in the pan. Sprinkle cinnamon powder, black pepper powder and sugar on top of the apple and the ribs.
Cover the pan and cook for two to three minutes until the sugar starts to melt. Be careful so that the sugar does not caramelize.
Add the apple juice to the pan.
Add the cinnamon stick and fresh thyme. Season it with salt.
Cover and cook for 20 minutes. Add water and continue the cooking in medium heat for another 15 minutes or until the meat is almost done.
Change the side of the meat and cook for 7-10 minutes.
When the gravy has thickened and the sugar has slightly caramelized, you will be able to see bubbles in the pan.
The dish is done and ready to be served.
It goes well with plain rice.
